Please join us at the upcoming KICK-OFF meeting!

Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 6 pm

I am excited to announce that our speaker will be Karrie Itz-Thompson, RD, CSSD, LD, consulting dietitian for the San Antonio Spurs and owner of Nutrition for Life. She will be presenting on Sports Nutrition for the High Performance Athlete.

Read more about Karrie here:

Light appetizers will be provided by Rochelle, of Deneas Reneas Catering. Rochelle prepares meals for the San Antonio Spurs as well as offers private chef services for clients in the San Antonio area.

The kick-off meeting will be held in the Whitte Museum Memorial Auditorium at 3801 Broadway.

Please schedule amply time for parking so that you can enjoy a quick 15 min tour of the HEB Body of Adventure building by Dr. Bryan Bell, of the Whitte Museum, at 6 pm. The general meeting will begin at 6:30 pm.

I look forward to seeing our area dietitian nutritionists, dietetic technicians, dietetic students, and retired dietitians  out in great numbers for this first meeting!! In the meantime, remember to renew your membership with the Academy and STAND so that you may stay up-to-date with current legislative activities. (You may also renew your STAND membership at the meeting.)

If you are a current member of the Academy, then you likely are aware, but right now in the State of Texas, the dietitian licensure is at risk for being eliminated. Your Academy membership pays for the important work in the legislature that fights for maintaining our licensure and standing in the local and national field as the ‘Nutrition Experts’.

If you get an action alert from AND, TAND, or STAND, please don’t delete – ACT!! We all must work together.

See you at the Kick-off!

Anna Macnak, RDN, LD
2014-2015 South Texas Academy President
